“This song is the closest to god I’ll ever get”

That is a recent comment on YouTube about Bon Iver’s remarkable “Holocene” song/video.

I would want R&T readers to really think about seeing this video, because I think it says something about a (way into, way of) spirituality that speaks to a lot of people today.

To encourage you to watch it, I had written the following in the first draft of this post: If you have ever been a boy; or if you have beloved boys in your life; or if you simply have ever had the experience of recognizing that “all at once I knew I was not magnificent,” then consider watching/hearing “Holocene.”

Now I would like to change that to: If you have ever had the experience of being inexplicably, overwhelmingly, caught up in a question that you sense will never end, and that question is: What is the world?, then consider watching/hearing “Holocene.”
